“Drayage costs kill trade show budgets.” That’s an understatement, I thought when I read this in a recent article. For anybody unfamiliar with the term, drayage simply means moving tradeshow exhibit materials from the loading dock to the exhibitors booth space and back again.  If you are not familiar with the term, call me, I have a sure fire remedy to cure the sick feeling you get when you see your next tradeshow bill, (it involves ice, a cocktail shaker and premium vermouth).  Understanding the havoc this can have on tradeshow budgets, much information has been posted, and seminars have been given on how to specifically reduce these costs. Everything from using lightweight modular exhibits, to simple examples like don’t ship 2 boxes at 50lbs, ship one at 100 lbs. At the end of the day, consider what is known as the 3 Cs of drayage: condense, compact, consolidate. The less you ship, the less they charge.

So the next time you need a giveaway for a tradeshow condense, compact, & consolidate!
